My name is Amanda Shepard, and I am absolutely ecstatic to be named your Mrs. Maine American 2021! I have been married to my college sweetheart for nearly half of my life. Since our time as undergraduates at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, Ben and I have welcomed three children into our family. AJ is sixteen, Harper is fourteen, and Isla is seven years old.
My husband and I are thrilled to raise our children on Maine's mid-coast at the Shepard family homestead. Our family's picturesque saltwater farmhouse and lupin meadow once graced the cover of an L. L. Bean catalogue. The property is as old as the state of Maine and has been passed down the Shepard generations for all of its 200 years. Ours is truly a blessed and beautiful life in Boothbay Harbor!
As a sewist, I create theatrical costuming and sustainable up-cycling with fabric as my medium. I am a yogi--200 hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor, weightlifter, cyclist, and emergent sailor. I hold a Masters of Education in Special Education and Gifted and Talented. Currently, I am on sabbatical as a once-and-future educator, serving as a homemaker and career volunteer dedicated to representing Maine and the married women of our state to the very best of my ability!
I feel my primary objective as Mrs. Maine is to make and strengthen personal connections with our community, in order to inspire and invite more married women to become engaged in the Mrs. Maine America organization, to build upon the existing partnerships the Mrs. Maine America organization shares with our many business sponsors and philanthropies, and to forge new connections.
I will use my title as a megaphone to amplify my voice, to continue the work of Victoria’s Voice and to continue taking bold steps to prevent addiction and save lives!
